Airbnb defeats major landlord in case over high-end rentals

A federal judge has ruled that Airbnb Inc. is not liable for claims by one of the largest residential landlords in the U.S. that the site facilitates the renting of unauthorized sublets.

Apartment Investment & Management Co. had sued the San Francisco-based home sharing company in 2017, saying that because so many of its tenants had been listing their properties with Airbnb, it had been forced to hire extra security, deal with multiple complaints from neighbors and even evict tenants listing their properties illegally.
